Junior Research Fellow (JRF) Recruitment 2026 – IISER Bhopal

Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Bhopal (IISER Bhopal) invites applications from highly motivated candidates for the position of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) under an Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF) Prime Minister Early Career Research Grant (ECRG) project in the Department of Data Science and Engineering (DSE).

Position Overview

Project Title

AI-Enabled 3D Mapping Robot for Precision Industrial Automation and Smart Manufacturing

About the Project

The project aims to develop AI-enabled robotic vision systems for 3D reconstruction, mapping, and scene understanding using stationary and mobile robots.

Research will focus on:

• Autonomous 3D scanning

• Defect detection

• Dynamic SLAM

• Multi-sensor fusion

• Navigation for real-world industrial environments

Potential applications include smart manufacturing, inspection, agriculture, mining, and autonomous robotics.

Essential Qualification & Eligibility

Candidates should possess:

• B.E. / B.Tech / B.S. or M.E. / M.S. / M.Tech or equivalent degree in:

  • Computer Science

  • Electronics

  • Electrical Engineering

  • Mechanical Engineering

  • Instrumentation

  • Robotics

  • Related discipline

• Good academic record with First Class / Division or minimum 7.0/10.0 CGPA

• Must have qualified a national entrance examination such as GATE or NET with a valid score/rank at the time of applying

Desirable Skills & Experience

Preference will be given to candidates with:

• Strong interest and demonstrated experience in robotics, 3D vision, or autonomous systems

• Programming experience in Python and/or C/C++

• Familiarity with ROS/ROS 2 and robotic software development

• Experience with cameras, RGB-D/depth sensors, LiDAR, or other perception sensors

• Hands-on experience with embedded platforms such as Arduino, Raspberry Pi, or NVIDIA Jetson

• Basic knowledge of electronics, sensors, actuators, and robotic systems

Fellowship

INR 37,000 per month + 18% HRA

Appointment Duration

The initial appointment is for 12 months.

The position may be extended based on performance.
