The Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Bhopal (IISER Bhopal) invites applications for the position of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) or Project Associate-I in Theoretical/Computational Biological Physics under an Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF), Department of Science & Technology, Government of India funded project.

Position Overview

About the Project

The project lies at the interface of physics, biology, and computation. Using physics-based models and simulations, the research aims to explore fundamental physical principles governing complex biomolecular systems, with particular emphasis on phenomena spanning multiple time and length scales.

The research will employ advanced computational methods rooted in equilibrium and non-equilibrium statistical physics, complemented by modern machine-learning techniques.

Essential Qualification and Eligibility

Candidates should possess:

• M.Sc. / MS / BS-MS / BS / B.Tech or equivalent in Physics, Engineering Sciences, Applied Mathematics, Biophysics, or Physical Chemistry from a recognised university/institute.

• A minimum of 60% aggregate or CGPA/CPI of 7.0 on a 10-point scale.

For JRF Position

Candidates must have a valid score/rank in:

NET / GATE / JEST or an equivalent national eligibility test.

Students from national institutes such as IISERs/IITs/NITs/IISc with a CPI above 8.0/10.0 are exempt from the NET/GATE/JEST requirement.

Desirable Qualification

• Proficiency in computer programming, particularly Python or another programming/scripting language.

Appointment Duration

The appointment will initially be for 6 months or until completion of the project, subject to satisfactory performance.

The advertisement also states that there may be an opportunity to convert the project position into an institute-funded PhD in the near future.
