The Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Bhopal invites applications from Indian nationals for the position of Project Scientist-I under a project sponsored by the Qmet Technology Foundation.

The selected candidate will contribute to the research project titled “Diamond Quantum Defects Based Sensing”, focusing on the development of advanced quantum sensing tools and techniques.

Position Overview

About the Research Project

The project “Diamond Quantum Defects Based Sensing” aims to develop advanced tools and techniques that exploit atom-like defects in diamond for quantum sensing applications.

These quantum defects are used to achieve:

• High-sensitivity quantum sensing

• High spatial resolution

• Development of advanced sensing tools and techniques

The research provides an opportunity to work in quantum technology, experimental physics, and related interdisciplinary areas.

Essential Qualifications

Applicants must possess:

• PhD in Physics or Electrical Engineering (EE) from a recognized institution.

• A good academic record.

Additional Qualifications and Preferred Experience

Candidates with experience in one or more of the following areas will be preferred:

• 2D Materials

• Optics and Photonics

• Nanofabrication

• Quantum Information

• Solid-State NMR

• Scanning Probe Microscopy

• Atomic Force Microscopy

• Magneto-Optical Characterization Techniques

• Cryogenics

• Lock-in Techniques

• Python Programming

• Electron Spin Resonance

• Quantum Optimal Control

• Atomic Magnetometry

Additional preferred technical experience:

Candidates with hands-on experience in designing, fabricating, and testing indigenous instruments will receive preference, particularly in:

• Lasers and optical electronics

• Development of digital electronics

• Arduino-based systems

• Mechanical and software development

• Magnet design

Salary and Benefits

The selected Project Scientist-I will receive:

Monthly Salary: INR 77,000 + HRA

House Rent Allowance will be provided in addition to the monthly remuneration, as specified in the recruitment advertisement.

Appointment Duration

The position is available for 12 months under the Qmet Technology Foundation-sponsored research project.
