Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Tirupati invites applications from eligible Indian nationals for 01 Research Associate-I position on a contractual basis under an ANRF-funded research project in Experimental High Energy Physics.

Position Overview

Project Title

“Understanding the Topological Aspects of Extreme QCD Matter through their Interactions with Jets”

Research Area

Experimental High Energy Physics

The selected candidate will work on advanced research related to high-energy and nuclear physics, with particular emphasis on extreme QCD matter and jet interactions.

Essential Qualifications

Candidates should possess:

• Ph.D. in Experimental High-Energy Physics / Nuclear Physics

Preference will be given to candidates with research experience in areas such as:

• Relativistic heavy-ion collisions at RHIC and/or LHC experiments

• Electron-Ion Collider (EIC) physics

• Jet physics

• Hard probes

• High-energy physics data analysis

Candidates who have submitted their Ph.D. thesis and are awaiting the award of the degree may also apply.

Desired Skills & Experience

Candidates should preferably possess strong computational and data-analysis skills, including experience with:

• C++

• Python

• ROOT

• High-energy physics Monte Carlo event generators

• Geant4 or related frameworks

Applicants should also be able to provide evidence of having conducted high-quality research during or after their Ph.D. programme.

Fellowship / Salary

Candidates with Ph.D. Certificate

INR 58,000 per month + 10% HRA

Candidates Awaiting Ph.D. Award

INR 42,000 per month + 10% HRA

Candidates awaiting the Ph.D. award must provide a letter from a competent authority confirming that:

• The Ph.D. thesis has been submitted, and

• The final viva/defense is pending.

A nominal research grant will also be available under the project as per applicable provisions.

Tenure

• Initial appointment: 1 year

• Extendable for an additional 1 year

• Maximum total duration: 2 years

Extension will be subject to a satisfactory performance review.

The position is temporary and project-based.

Age Limit

Candidates should be not more than 40 years of age as on the closing date of the advertisement.
