Position Overview

About the Role

The Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB) invites applications for the position of Academic Associate in the Entrepreneurship Area.

The role is suitable for candidates with strong academic credentials who are interested in pursuing an academic career. The position provides an opportunity to develop research and teaching skills under the close supervision of IIMB faculty.

Subject to satisfactory performance, the experience can help prepare candidates for admission to leading PhD programmes in India, Asia and beyond.

Key Responsibilities

The selected Academic Associate will be expected to:

• Provide research and teaching support to faculty members.

• Assist faculty across different academic and research workflows.

• Collect data from secondary sources such as databases and online resources.

• Design interviews and surveys.

• Collect and manage primary research data.

• Clean and merge datasets.

• Review academic literature.

• Support teaching delivery.

• Assist with examination-related work and marking.

• Undertake administrative responsibilities as assigned by the institute.

Essential Qualifications

Candidates should possess a Master’s Degree in one of the following areas:

• Management

• Social Sciences

• Statistics

• Economics

• Mathematics

• Engineering

• Science

Candidates with a four-year undergraduate degree with distinction in a relevant academic discipline may also be considered, particularly if the degree is in:

• Science

• Engineering

• Mathematics

• Statistics

• Economics

Preferred Skills

Familiarity with relevant computer and research tools will be an advantage, including:

• Data scraping using R or Python

• Statistical analysis using STATA

• Automation of basic tasks using AI tools and agents

• Quantitative research methods

• Research software and data analysis tools

Candidates should also demonstrate:

• Strong verbal communication skills

• Strong written communication skills

• Attention to accuracy and detail

• Willingness to learn quantitative research methods

Stipend

The selected candidate will receive an all-inclusive monthly stipend ranging from INR 43,000 to INR 55,000.

The final stipend will depend on the candidate’s experience and profile.

Appointment Duration

The appointment will initially be for:

1 Year

The position may be extended, subject to performance and institutional requirements, up to a maximum total period of 3 years.
