The Indian Institute of Information Technology Pune (IIIT Pune) has invited applications for 17 Assistant Professor positions across multiple departments. The recruitment includes Assistant Professor Grade-I (Level 12) and Assistant Professor Grade-II (Level 10 – Contract) positions under the four-tier flexible faculty structure.

About IIIT Pune

The Indian Institute of Information Technology Pune is an Institute of National Importance established under the Public Private Partnership (PPP) model by an Act of Parliament.

The institute operates from its permanent campus at Talegaon (Maval), Pune, Maharashtra, and offers B.Tech., M.Tech., and Ph.D. programmes.

IIIT Pune invites applications from qualified Indian nationals, including Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs) and Overseas Citizens of India (OCIs), for faculty positions in engineering, technology, applied sciences, and humanities.

The number of vacancies is tentative and may be modified by the institute. Horizontal reservation for PwBD candidates will be provided according to Government of India norms.

2. Electronics and Communication Engineering

• Radar and Satellite Communication

• RF, Antenna and Microwave Engineering

• VLSI and Semiconductor Devices

• Embedded Systems and IoT

• Signal, Image and Video Processing

• Quantum Communication

• Electronic Instrumentation and Control

3. Applied Science and Humanities

Preferred specialisations include:

• Applied Mathematics

• Probability and Statistics

• Number Theory and Cryptography

• Numerical Analysis and Optimisation

• Linear and Abstract Algebra

• Differential Equations

• Game Theory and Financial Mathematics

• Quantum Computation and Information Theory

Essential Qualifications and Experience

Assistant Professor Grade-I (Level 12)

• Ph.D. in a relevant or equivalent discipline.

• Three years of relevant experience after Ph.D. or six years of total teaching and research experience in a reputed academic institution, R&D laboratory, or relevant industry.

• Minimum 20 cumulative essential credit points under the prescribed credit-point system.

• First class in preceding degrees.

Assistant Professor Grade-II (Level 10 – Contract)

• Ph.D. in a relevant or equivalent discipline.

• First class in preceding degrees.

• No minimum experience or cumulative credit points prescribed.

Where the awarding institution has not explicitly defined first class, a minimum of 60% marks or 6.5 CGPA will be treated as first class.

Postdoctoral experience from reputed institutions in India or abroad will be an added advantage.

Industry professionals with substantial professional or R&D experience and quality publications or relevant patents may also apply, subject to the prescribed eligibility criteria.

Nature of Appointment

Assistant Professor Grade-I: Selected candidates will undergo a probation period of one year, with regularisation subject to satisfactory completion and institute rules.

Assistant Professor Grade-II: This is a contractual appointment, initially for one year, renewable annually based on performance for a maximum of five years.

Selection Process

The recruitment process includes:

1. Screening and shortlisting of eligible applications.

2. Document verification.

3. Written examination comprising multiple-choice questions.

4. Presentation-cum-interview.

The written examination is qualifying in nature. Final selection will be based on performance in the presentation-cum-interview.
