About the Research Project

Project Title: Design and development of a novel fully automated low-cost wire arc additive manufacturing set up for fabricating high strength defense and aerospace grade parts.

The CSIR-sponsored project focuses on developing an automated and cost-effective wire arc additive manufacturing system for producing high-strength components used in defence and aerospace applications.

The research involves material processing, characterization, experimental investigation, and simulation.

Essential Qualifications

Candidates must fulfil the following eligibility requirements:

1. Ph.D. Qualification

• Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering.

• Three years of research and development experience as of the application date, evidenced through Research Associateship, Associateship, or from the date of Ph.D. registration.

2. Candidates Who Have Submitted Their Ph.D. Thesis

• Candidates who have submitted their Ph.D. thesis in Science or Engineering are also eligible to apply.

• Selection will be subject to the condition that the Ph.D. viva voce is completed and the candidate is declared qualified for the award of the Ph.D. degree before the expiry of the validity of the award offer.

3. Research Publication Requirement

- Applicants must have at least one research publication in a standard refereed journal, as listed in Journal Citation Reports (JCR).

Eligibility and selection will be governed by CSIR HRDG norms.

Research Responsibilities

The selected Research Associate will contribute to the following activities:

• Wire arc additive manufacturing research and development.

• Material processing and characterization.

• Experimental and analytical investigations.

• Design and simulation activities.

• Research related to high-strength defence and aerospace-grade components.

Fellowship and Remuneration

Monthly Fellowship: INR 37,000

House Rent Allowance: 18% HRA, applicable if on-campus accommodation is not provided.

The fellowship and other applicable conditions will be governed by the relevant CSIR HRDG guidelines.

Appointment Duration

• Initial Duration: 1 Year

• Nature of Appointment: Temporary and contractual

• Continuation: Subject to satisfactory work progress

The appointment is associated with the CSIR-sponsored research project and does not constitute a regular institutional position.

Age Limit

Maximum Age: 35 years for unreserved candidates.

Age relaxation will be provided according to CSIR HRDG norms.
