About the Opportunity

The Indian Institute of Information Technology Allahabad (IIIT Allahabad) invites applications from eligible candidates across India for admission to its NEP-Based Ph.D. Programmes.

The rolling admission process offers opportunities under the following two categories:

1. Ph.D. with Institute / External Fellowship

2. Ph.D. for Working Professionals

Applicants should verify the department-wise eligibility criteria before submitting their applications.

1. Ph.D. with Institute / External Fellowship

This category is intended for eligible candidates seeking admission to the Ph.D. programme with applicable Institute or External Fellowship support.

Candidates are required to satisfy the prescribed department/discipline-specific educational qualifications and admission requirements.

2. Ph.D. – Working Professional

The Working Professional (WP) category is available for eligible candidates who wish to pursue doctoral research while continuing their professional engagement.

Selection Advantage for Working Professionals

Eligible Working Professional candidates are:

• Exempted from Stage-I

• Called directly for Stage-II Personal Interview, subject to fulfilment of eligibility requirements

Essential Qualification

The detailed programme-wise and department-wise educational qualifications are prescribed in Annexure-1 and Annexure-2 of the official advertisement.

Application Fee

The prescribed non-refundable application fee is:

• General / EWS / OBC: INR 500

• SC / ST / PwD: INR 250

Payment should be made through the prescribed online payment facility.

How to Apply

Candidates should follow these steps:

• Check the eligibility criteria for the respective programme and department.

• Click the official Apply option for the selected Ph.D. category.

• Complete all required details in the online application portal.

• Pay the applicable application fee within the prescribed time.

• Upload all required supporting documents.

• Candidates applying to more than one department/discipline must submit a separate application for each department/discipline.

The application will be considered complete only after both online form submission and payment of the prescribed fee.

Admission Process

The Ph.D. admission process comprises Stage-I and Stage-II.

Stage-I – Screening Test

• Conducted at IIIT Allahabad campus

• Computer-Based Test only

• Maximum marks: 100

• Duration: 2 Hours

• Two sections of 50 marks each

Section I: General component common to all departments/disciplines and applicants.

Section II: Department-specific component.

Each department will prepare a list of candidates shortlisted for the Personal Interview.

Note: Stage-I is exempted for candidates qualified through national-level examinations such as GATE/NET, as specified in the advertisement.

Stage-II – Personal Interview

Stage-II consists of a Personal Interview before a department-specific panel of experts.

The interview may be conducted on the same day or the next day after Stage-I.

Final selection will be subject to:

• Recommendation of the Evaluation Committee

• Approval of the Competent Authority

Working Professional Selection

Eligible Working Professional candidates are exempted from Stage-I and may be called directly for the Stage-II Personal Interview.
