The Division of Fruits & Horticultural Technology, ICAR–Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI), New Delhi invites eligible candidates for a Walk-in Interview for 01 Junior Research Fellow/Senior Research Fellow (JRF/SRF) and 02 Field Assistant positions under a DBT-sponsored research project.

Position Overview

Project Title

“Genetic Dissection for Fruit Size, Quality and Bacterial Blight Resistance in Pomegranate through Genome-Wide Association Mapping”

1. Junior Research Fellow / Senior Research Fellow (JRF/SRF)

Number of Posts: 01

Essential Qualifications

Candidates should possess a Master’s degree in any of the following or related disciplines:

• Horticulture / Fruit Science

• Genetics

• Plant Breeding

• Genetics & Plant Breeding

• Plant Molecular Biology & Biotechnology

• Life Sciences

Candidates should fulfil the applicable ICAR eligibility requirements regarding undergraduate/postgraduate degree duration and qualifying examinations.

Candidates with a three-year Bachelor’s degree followed by postgraduate study in Basic Sciences should have:

• UGC/CSIR/ICAR-NET, or

• GATE, or

• Equivalent qualification

OR

• Ph.D. in a relevant discipline, as applicable under ICAR norms.

Desirable Experience

Preference will be given to candidates with experience in:

• Molecular markers

• Marker-assisted breeding

• Phenotyping of fruit crops

• Biochemical analysis

• Data compilation and analysis

• Microsoft Excel

• R

• Other relevant research software

Fellowship

• First & Second Year: INR 37,000 per month + 27% HRA

• Third Year: INR 42,000 per month + 27% HRA

2. Field Assistant

Number of Posts: 02

Essential Qualifications

Candidates should possess:

• B.Sc., or

• 3-year Diploma in Engineering & Technology, or

• Graduate degree in any discipline as applicable under DST norms

The qualification requirements will be governed by the relevant DST Office Memorandum.

Desirable Skills

Candidates should preferably be able to:

• Take and record fruit-related data

• Conduct various fruit analyses

• Perform biochemical analyses

• Work with Microsoft Excel and related data-management tools

Fellowship

INR 20,000 per month + 27% HRA

• Research/publication details, if applicable
