Overview of Role

Georgia State University’s Perimeter College invites applications for a full-time Lecturer of English.

This is a teaching-focused, academic-year, non-tenure-track appointment. The position carries a 100% instructional workload, with lecturers responsible for delivering 36 credit hours of instruction per academic year and maintaining weekly office hours.

Key Responsibilities & Teaching Scope

• Teach first-year composition and related English courses.

• Deliver 36 credit hours of instruction per academic year.

• Maintain regular weekly office hours.

• Teach through multiple instructional formats, including:

  • In-person

  • Online

  • Hybrid / blended

• Maintain an active campus presence.

• Support early undergraduate teaching and learning.

• Work effectively with a diverse student population.

• Contribute collaboratively to departmental and college goals.

• Use appropriate instructional technologies and teaching methods.

Teaching assignments may be made across any of Perimeter College’s campuses.

Qualifications & Candidate Profile

Required Education:

• Master’s degree in the teaching discipline, or

• Master’s degree with at least:

  • 18 semester graduate hours, or

  • 27 quarter graduate hours
    in relevant coursework.

The required degree and coursework must be completed by the anticipated appointment date.

Preferred Qualifications

Preference may be given to candidates with:

• Ph.D. in the relevant teaching field.

• Successful experience teaching developmental writing and first-year composition.

• Graduate coursework in:

  • Rhetoric and Composition

  • Writing Pedagogy

• College-level teaching experience.

• At least one year of college teaching experience, including teaching-assistant experience.

• Experience teaching online.

• Experience using a learning management system.

• Interest or experience in high-impact educational practices.

• Interest in the scholarship of teaching and learning.

• Experience connecting college learning with career preparation.

• Active or developing scholarship in the discipline.

Salary & Academic Qualification

Candidates with a Master’s Degree:

Approximately INR 40.87 lakh – INR 45.69 lakh annually

Candidates with a Ph.D.:

Approximately INR 45.83 lakh – INR 50.65 lakh annually

Final salary depends on qualifications and institutional appointment terms.
