The Central University of Haryana (CUH) has invited eligible candidates for a walk-in interview for the position of Senior Research Fellow (SRF) under a DST-Haryana / HSCSIT-sponsored research project.

The selected candidate will work on research involving climate-resilient mustard, multiplex genome editing, CRISPR/Cas technology, plant molecular biology and abiotic stress-related genes.

Position Overview

Project Title

Development of Climate-Resilient Mustard through Multiplex Genome Editing of Abiotic Stress-Related Genes

The project focuses on developing climate-resilient mustard varieties using modern genome-editing approaches targeting genes associated with abiotic stress.

Key research areas include:

• Plant Molecular Biology

• Multiplex Genome Editing

• CRISPR/Cas-based Genome Editing

• Abiotic Stress Biology

• Mustard / Brassica Research

• Plant Tissue Culture and Transformation

• Molecular Characterization

Essential Qualification

As per DST rules, candidates should fulfil the prescribed JRF qualification along with two years of research experience.

The JRF qualification includes:

• Postgraduate Degree in Basic Science

OR

• Graduate / Postgraduate Degree in a Professional Course

Candidates should have been selected through a recognized national-level examination such as:

• CSIR-UGC NET, including Lectureship / Assistant Professorship

• GATE

OR

National-level examinations conducted by Central Government departments, agencies or institutions such as:

• DST

• DBT

• DAE

• DOS

• DRDO

• MoE

• ICAR

• ICMR

• IITs

• IISc

• IISERs

• NISER

• Other recognized national-level examinations

Research Experience Required: Minimum 2 years

Desirable Qualifications

Preference will be given to candidates with relevant hands-on research experience in:

• Plant molecular biology

• Molecular cloning

• Plant tissue culture

• Plant transformation

• CRISPR/Cas-based plant genome editing

• Molecular characterization

Candidates having experience with Brassica / mustard or other crop transformation and genome-editing systems will be preferred.

Salary / Fellowship

The selected Senior Research Fellow will receive:

• INR 42,000 per month

• HRA as applicable under DST / Government of India norms

The fellowship will be subject to the sanctioned project budget.

Duration & Age Limit

• Appointment is purely temporary.

• Present appointment period is up to 15 February 2027 or until termination of the project, whichever is earlier.

• Continuation of the appointment is subject to the release and availability of third-year project funds.

• Age Limit: As per applicable DST / HSCSIT / CUH / Government rules.

Selection will be conducted through a walk-in interview.
