Overview of Role

City University of Hong Kong invites applications for Economics faculty positions at all academic levels, from Assistant Professor to Chair Professor, in the Department of Economics and Finance. The department is particularly interested in candidates working in empirical economics and macroeconomics, while welcoming strong scholars across all areas of economics.

Successful candidates are expected to develop a world-class research programme, contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, and supervise MPhil/PhD students.

Key Responsibilities & Teaching Scope

• Conduct high-quality, internationally recognised research in economics.

• Develop and maintain a strong research programme aligned with the department's academic priorities.

• Teach courses at undergraduate and graduate levels.

• Supervise and mentor MPhil and PhD students.

• Contribute to student education and academic development.

• Chair Professor, Professor and Associate Professor appointees may undertake administrative and departmental duties as required by the Head of Department.

Qualifications & Candidate Profile

• Required Education: PhD in Economics or a closely related field by the time of appointment.

• Experience & Specializations: Strong research potential and evidence of quality teaching.

• Preferred Research Areas: All areas of economics are considered, with particular interest in empirical economics and macroeconomics.

• Candidate Profile: Applicants should demonstrate the ability to build a world-class research programme and contribute effectively to teaching and student mentorship.
