Overview of Role

The Department of Economics at California State University, Fullerton invites applications for two tenure-track Assistant Professor positions in Economics beginning Fall 2027.

The department is particularly interested in scholars conducting empirical economic research using modern econometric and machine learning methods. Successful candidates will contribute to undergraduate and graduate teaching, research, student mentorship, and university service.

Key Responsibilities & Teaching Scope

• Develop and teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Data Analytics.

• Teach core Economics courses at undergraduate and graduate levels.

• Teach courses within the successful candidate’s areas of specialization.

• Supervise and mentor undergraduate and graduate research.

• Maintain an active scholarly research agenda.

• Produce research appropriate for publication in leading academic journals.

• Advise students.

• Participate in departmental and university committees.

• Contribute to the academic and professional development of the Department of Economics.

• Participate in broader disciplinary and university communities.

Qualifications & Candidate Profile

Required Qualifications:

• Ph.D. in Economics, completed by the appointment start date.

• Expertise in applying modern econometric and machine learning techniques to applied economic questions.

• Strong potential to publish research in leading academic journals.

• Commitment to high-quality undergraduate and graduate teaching.

• Ability and interest in teaching students from a broad range of educational and socioeconomic backgrounds, including first-generation college students.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience developing and teaching courses in:

  • Data Analytics

  • Machine Learning

• Extensive use of machine learning and data analytical methods in scholarly research.

• Strong empirical research agenda.

Remuneration & Benefits

• Anticipated Hiring Range: Approximately INR 8.73 lakh – INR 8.91 lakh per month.

• Approximate annual equivalent: INR 1.05 crore – INR 1.07 crore.

• Broader Assistant Professor classification range is approximately INR 5.97 lakh – INR 12.69 lakh per month, depending on qualifications and placement.

• Salary offered will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

• Summer research grants may be available.
