The Department of Geophysics, Institute of Science, Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Varanasi invites applications for two Project Associate-I positions under a MoES-sponsored Monsoon Mission III project. The positions are purely temporary and co-terminus with the project.

Position Overview

Project Title

Comprehensive Verification and Evaluation of Model Energetics for Seasonal to Sub-seasonal Scale over Eastern Uttar Pradesh

The project is supported under Monsoon Mission III by the Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES).

Essential Qualification

Candidates should possess:

• M.Sc. / M.Tech. with at least 60% marks in:

  • Atmospheric Science

  • Meteorology

  • Physics

  • Mathematics

  • Geophysics with Meteorology as specialization

Desirable Qualifications & Experience

Candidates with knowledge of computer programming and experience with relevant scientific software/tools will be preferred, including:

• Linux

• Python

• MATLAB

• NCL

• GrADS

• CDO

• R

Emoluments – Project Associate-I

For 1st and 2nd Year

INR 37,000 per month + HRA for candidates selected through:

• National Eligibility Tests – CSIR-UGC NET, including Lectureship/Assistant Professorship

• GATE

• National-level examinations conducted by Central Government Departments and their agencies/institutions

INR 30,000 per month + HRA for candidates who do not fall under the above category.

Project Associate-II – 3rd Year

INR 42,000 per month + HRA for candidates qualifying through the specified national-level examination route.

INR 33,000 per month + HRA for other eligible candidates.

Age Limit

Upper Age Limit: 35 years as on the date of advertisement.

Age relaxation is applicable for Female / SC / ST / Physically Handicapped candidates as per Government of India rules.

Nature of Appointment

The positions are purely temporary and co-terminus with the research project.

The project was sanctioned for a period of three years on 10 June 2025.
