Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Varanasi invites applications from highly motivated candidates for two Project Associate-I positions under a Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES) Monsoon Mission III sponsored project in the Department of Geophysics, Institute of Science. The positions are purely temporary and co-terminus with the project.

Position Overview

Project Title

Comprehensive Verification and Evaluation of Model Energetics for Seasonal to Sub-seasonal Scale over Eastern Uttar Pradesh

The project is supported under Monsoon Mission III by the Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES).

Essential Qualification

Candidates should possess:

• M.Sc. / M.Tech. with at least 60% marks in:

  • Atmospheric Science

  • Meteorology

  • Physics

  • Mathematics

  • Geophysics with Meteorology as specialization

Desirable Qualifications & Experience

Preference will be given to candidates having knowledge of computer programming, including software/tools such as:

• Linux

• Python

• MATLAB

• NCL

• GrADS

• CDO

• R

Fellowship – Project Associate-I

National-Level Examination Qualified Candidates

INR 37,000 per month + HRA

Applicable to candidates selected through:

• CSIR-UGC NET, including Lectureship / Assistant Professorship

• GATE

• National-level examinations conducted by Central Government departments and their agencies/institutions

Other Eligible Candidates

INR 30,000 per month + HRA

Progression to Project Associate-II

For the third year, the position is indicated as Project Associate-II.

National-level examination qualified candidates:
INR 42,000 per month + HRA

Other eligible candidates:
INR 33,000 per month + HRA

Age Limit

Upper Age Limit: 35 years as on the date of advertisement.

Relaxation:

• Up to 5 years for Female / SC / ST / Physically Handicapped candidates

• Other relaxations as per Government of India rules

Nature of Appointment

The posts are purely temporary and co-terminus with the project.
