Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Varanasi invites applications for 01 Senior Research Fellow (SRF) position in the Department of Molecular and Human Genetics, Institute of Science under a Department of Biotechnology (DBT), New Delhi-funded research project. The position is purely temporary and co-terminus with the project.

Position Overview

Project Title

“Systemic Exploration of Exosomal Heterogeneity in PD Stress Conditions and Developing Strategy to Modulate/Inhibit Dopaminergic Neuronal Cell Death and Neuroinflammation”

The DBT-funded project focuses on Parkinson’s Disease (PD), exosomal heterogeneity, dopaminergic neuronal cell death, neuroinflammation, neurobiology, and molecular and cellular mechanisms associated with neurological disorders.

Essential Qualifications

Candidates should possess a First-Class Postgraduate Degree in any of the following disciplines:

• Biochemistry

• Biotechnology

• Molecular & Human Genetics

• Zoology

• Animal Science

• Life Sciences

Applicants should also have qualified:

• NET

• GATE

• Or an equivalent recognized examination

Desirable Qualifications

Preference will be given to candidates having hands-on experience in:

• Maintenance and differentiation of primary cell cultures

• Induced Pluripotent Stem Cells (iPSCs)

• Fundamental laboratory techniques

• Functional assays related to neurobiology

• Parkinson’s Disease research

• Cell culture

• Molecular biology techniques

These areas may also be considered while screening applicants.

Experience Required

Candidates should have a minimum of 2 years of research experience in areas such as:

• Parkinson’s Disease

• Neurobiology

• Neuronal cell culture

• Molecular biology

• Cell biology

Fellowship

The selected Senior Research Fellow will receive:

INR 42,000 per month + 18% HRA

The fellowship is fixed as per the conditions of the sanctioned DBT research project.

Age Limit

• General Category: Maximum 32 years

• OBC: Relaxation of 3 years

• SC/ST: Relaxation of 5 years

• Physically Handicapped Candidates: Relaxation of 5 years

• Female Candidates: Relaxation of 5 years

Age relaxation will be provided as per Government of India rules.

Duration of Appointment

The position is:

• Purely temporary

• Co-terminus with the project

• Available for a maximum project duration of 3 years

Continuation will be governed by project requirements and applicable BHU/DBT norms.
