Administrative Theory & Praxis invites contributions for a Special Issue exploring queer theory and queer[ing] approaches in public administration, governance, management, nonprofits, public service, and civil society.
About the Special Issue
Queer theory offers a critical framework for examining how institutions, administrative systems, policies, and social structures construct and reinforce norms surrounding identity, gender, sexuality, relationships, and family structures. Rather than treating existing categories as fixed, queer approaches investigate how power operates through processes of categorization, normalization, inclusion, and exclusion.
This Special Issue seeks to explore the transformative potential of queer theory for public administration theory and practice. It welcomes scholars, practitioners, and activists interested in examining how queer perspectives can challenge established administrative assumptions, illuminate experiences of marginalized communities, and contribute to alternative approaches to governance, institutions, social equity, and public service.
