Overview of the Role

The Department of Finance at the American University of Sharjah invites applications for a full-time Assistant Professor in Finance starting in Fall 2027.

Applications are welcomed from scholars across all areas of Finance, with preference given to candidates whose research and teaching interests include asset pricing, investments, and financial markets.

The successful candidate will contribute to the Department’s research, teaching, and service activities.

Strong quantitative skills are considered desirable.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be expected to:

• Maintain an active programme of Finance research.

• Develop high-quality working papers and publications.

• Teach undergraduate Finance courses.

• Teach graduate-level Finance courses.

• Contribute to departmental service.

• Participate in the broader academic activities of the School of Business Administration.

Essential Qualifications

Applicants must:

• Hold a Ph.D. in Finance, or expect to complete the degree before the August 2027 start date.

• Have earned or be completing the Ph.D. at an AACSB-accredited university, preferably in North America.

• Demonstrate significant research potential.

• Have promising working papers, ideally progressing toward publication in top-tier Finance journals.

• Be capable of teaching at both undergraduate and graduate levels.

Preferred Candidate Profile

Preference may be given to applicants with:

• Research expertise in asset pricing.

• Research or teaching experience in investments.

• Expertise in financial markets.

• Strong quantitative skills.

• A promising record of scholarly research.
