Education and Training in Anesthesia and Intensive Care Medicine: Current Challenges and Future Directions

Journal: Advances in Medical Education and Practice
Publisher: Taylor & Francis Group
Article Collection
Manuscript Submission Deadline: 31 January 2027
Open Access: Yes

Advances in Medical Education and Practice invites submissions for an Article Collection examining contemporary approaches to education, training, competency development, assessment, and professional development in anesthesia and intensive care medicine.

About the Article Collection

Anesthesia and intensive care medicine are rapidly evolving clinical disciplines where patient safety, technological advancement, and increasing clinical complexity place substantial demands on healthcare professionals. Effective education must therefore develop not only technical expertise but also decision-making, communication, teamwork, and other essential non-technical skills.

The Collection particularly focuses on the transition toward competency-based medical education, where progression is increasingly based on demonstrated clinical competence and clearly defined outcomes rather than time alone. This transformation requires corresponding developments in curricula, teaching methods, assessment systems, simulation, educator responsibilities, and professional development.
