About the Article Collection
The Australian Journal of Psychology invites submissions for its Open Access Article Collection titled "Future Self, Present Choices: Linking Identity and Health Outcomes."
This collection explores how possible selves—our expectations, hopes, and fears about who we may become—shape present-day decisions, health behaviours, and psychological well-being. By bringing together research across developmental, social, cognitive, and health psychology, the collection aims to deepen understanding of how future-oriented self-concepts influence physical and mental health across the lifespan.
Researchers are encouraged to submit interdisciplinary studies that investigate the mechanisms linking identity, self-regulation, motivation, and behaviour, while highlighting applications in healthcare, education, and intervention design.

Possible selves and health-related behaviours
Future self-concepts and psychological well-being
