Overview of Role

Aalto University School of Business invites applications for a Postdoctoral Researcher in Sustainability in Business within the Organizations and Management discipline. The position is part of the Department of Management Studies' Sustainability in Business research group and offers an opportunity to develop an independent research agenda in sustainable business.

The appointment is for two years, with a potential extension of 1–2 years. The expected starting date is February 2027, although this can be negotiated.

Key Responsibilities & Teaching Scope

• Develop and pursue an independent research agenda in sustainability in business.

• Conduct high-quality research and target publications in leading international academic journals.

• Contribute to research related to collaborative innovation, circular economy, sustainability governance, sustainability transitions, and sustainable business models.

• Teach approximately one course per year or an equivalent contribution.

• Supervise master's theses and have opportunities to participate in PhD supervision.

• Participate in multidisciplinary sustainability research and international academic conferences.

• Contribute to the department's research community and broader societal impact activities.

Qualifications & Candidate Profile

• Required Education: PhD in a relevant field such as management studies, social sciences, organizations, sustainability, or a related discipline. Applicants who are about to complete their PhD may also be considered.

• Experience & Specializations: PhD completed within the last four years or nearing completion, demonstrated research and international publication capability, and competence in teaching.

• Research Profile: Interest in sustainability in business and the ability to develop a strong independent research programme.

• Language Requirements: Fluent English is required. Finnish and other language skills are considered an advantage.

• Other Requirements: Candidates are expected to be resident at Aalto University for the duration of the appointment.
